Welcome to River Bend
Pure, raw excellence in the Selle Français breed since November 2013
River Bend Stables is an equine breeding, training, and showing facility founded in November of 2013 by Emmaline and Laurent Moreau. It's nestled in the small town of Merritt, BC. We are just starting up and our main goal, along with competing, is to bring you the perfect eventing mount; the Selle Français. With the lithe, sleek and large-chested appearance of the Thoroughbred, the petite endurance of the Arabian, and the sturdy capability of the Warmblood, this breed is the ultimate in the sport horse world. The breed dates back to the small hills of France, where crossing Thoroughbred stallions with the native French mares produced a capable and well-rounded equine. We here at River Bend hope to perfect our lines for generations to come and hope our hard work and careful planning will go into breeding some of the best Selle Français horses you could find.

What's New
BEAR IN MIND, THE STABLE AND WEBSITE ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT THE MOMENT.
January 5, 2014 Happy New Year!
Everyone at River Bend is excited to welcome the New Year! To start the year off in good spirits, we entered Bari, Kayla, and Eva into the Patchy Hearts New Year 2013-2014 Halter Show! Click here to see their entries in the Gallery.
December 23rd, 2013 Exciting News!
It's Emmaline here, and boy do I have some news to share! I'm pregnant! I just found out yesterday and Laurent and I couldn't be happier. It may have come at a bad time, with all the renovations and the new foals, but I'll still try my best to keep up with the action around the farm. This new baby is due to arrive in March 2014. Wish me luck!
December 21st, 2013 Welcome HCS Carmody
We've just bought a new foal in auction! We are proud to be the new owners of HCS Carmody, a grey splash Irish Sport Horse filly. She went as the highest priced horse at the auction, that's how special this girl is. She is sired by ANA Chromeo, an Irish Sport Horse show jumper and eventer with a total of 26 points, currently competing at Preliminary level. Her dam is NFE/HCS Callista, an Irish Sport Horse who is currently competing in hunters and eventing with a total of 30 points. We have high hopes for this filly as an eventer and are very excited to see how she turns out!
December 19th, 2013 River Bend Stables Christmas Horse Trials
River Bend has just hosted our first event! After the hard work put in by all our staff, we have completed our Christmas Horse Trials, a C-rated three-day-event. We had over 250 entries and the weekend was filled with fun times for all. We were lucky with the weather and our newly built cross-country course held up very nicely. Our own little chestnut powerhouse, Hallie, placed first in her beginner class, and our two lovely stallions, Russ and Bari, placed fourth in Beginner and Training! Overall, a very successful weekend.
December 6th, 2013 More Success!
Baritone has done it again! He's placed 1st in his Novice division at the Golden Orchard Fall Games, earning 6 points and $200! We're very proud of our guy.
December 2nd, 2013 December Foals
Our first foals for the December breeding season are being born! Keep checking back as we update our Youngstock page. Three foals have been born and we still have two more scheduled. This is such an exciting time of year!
November 28, 2013 Show Success!
Our wonderful homebred stallion, Baritone RBS, just came back with a 4th place in his first event! He competed at Concours Complet D'Auroy, a C-rated randomized event, in the Novice division and won $60 and 3 points in the warmblood leaderboard. Our other stallion, Rousseau RBS, sadly did not place after he competed in this same event in the Beginner division. But a good effort was put out for all!
November 10, 2013 New Stallion
We're super excited to welcome our newest stallion, Rousseau RBS. He is a purebred Selle Français imported all the way from France! We just bought him from a private breeder. He is a 4 year old chestnut boy, affectionately called "Russ".
